We were married at Log Haven, up Millcreek canyon in Salt Lake City, UT on January 2, 2010. (01.02.2010- the date 01 02 is a mirror image of 2010). Our wedding had a tree theme. This was included in a lot of the details and designs that I handmade and instead of a water, sand or candle lighting ceremony we had a tree planting ceremony.
Here's the Save The Date postcard that I designed. Evan had the idea of using a mirror when we realized the date and year was a mirror image of itself.
Our Invitations
I designed these with a fabulous wood grain paper from Germany.
Our Rings
The bouquet: we had these done at Roots in downtown Salt Lake City. I didn't want a lot of florals. I was hoping for something a bit more edgy and eco friendly. These bouquets were beautiful with tons of greenery and even artichokes!
The bridesmaids wore black tea length dresses with teal shoes, teal sashs, custom screen printed scarves with an Oak Tree design and wood necklaces that my sister hand made with a wood burner.
And the guys had custom made screen printed ties with the Oak Tree design on them.
Here are the wedding programs that I designed:
My mom did all the decorations for the ceremony hall with lots of mossy elements that I loved.
The "guest book" was a picture frame that everyone signed with an embossing pen.
Table map: Each table was named after a different tree.
The photo booth album. We had a photo booth that was such a fun element! With each picture, the guest got 2 copies: one to keep and one to put in a book with a message for us.
Table place cards/ wedding favors:
My sister and I designed and handmade all these framed prints with different tree names for each of the tables:
We had little sachets and incense that smelled like each of the trees at some of the tables that I got from a great eco-friendly company in Oregon called Juniper Ridge. www.juniperridge.com
I designed these mugs as wedding favors for each of the guests. It is a tree with a heart carved in it with our wedding date. We filled these with Andes mints, perfect for a mountain wedding :)
These are little jars of oil and vinegar. Not the cheap stuff it was really amazing vinegar with herbs inside. :) My mom got these as favors for everyone and they had labels printed with our name and wedding date on them.
The Orange Sesame Salmon was delicious.
Our cake had a birch wood pattern on it with edible leaves and bark. There was a heart carved on the cake with our initials. The cake was white with raspberry filling and came from Granite Bakery in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Our officiant made our cake stand out of birch wood and it was beautiful! A perfect touch and tribute to the cake.
The girls helping me dress. Yes, it took a lot of us to get the dress on!
Family
The wedding party.
Everyone looked stunning and our wedding party helped out with so many details of the wedding.
Bride's party.
Yep I had bridesmaids and bridesmen.
Groomsmen
Tree planting ceremony.
Our officiant helped us make this idea come to fruition. We took soil from both of our families land to plant the tree and then watered it together. It was a beautiful representation of our new life together and the work it takes to make a marriage survive. Like a tree, it needs to be fed and nurtured.

The dance.
We took dance lessons! We did a dance that was mixed with two songs. The first was "No One's Gonna Love You" by Band of Horses and the second was "Sad Sad City" by Ghostland Observatory.
